     The Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center is pleased to announce the installation of High Speed Internet Connectivity in 100% of its' guest rooms.  We offer both wired and wireless connections for your convenience The Sheraton Imperial Hotel, in partnership with Golden Tree Communications, has completed this installation in record time.  The Sheraton Imperial Hotel is one of the first full service hotels in the Research Triangle area to offer this service on a complimentary basis.  The hotel's 34,000 square feet of meeting space is currently equipped with a fee-based wireless High Speed Internet solution, operating at T-1 speed.

     We are also pleased to announce that the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center now offers free WI-FI connection in our main lobby area

     The Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center is a 331 room full service hotel with 34,000 square feet of meeting and ballroom space.  The hotel is owned and operated by Imperial Hotel Group Inc. under a license issued by Sheraton Corporation

Q: Is there a charge for this service?

A:  No, this is a free service for our guests

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: All that is needed is a laptop computer, a Ethernet/CAT5 cable, a dongle or RJ-45 plug, a network card, or a wireless connection either using built in or PCMIA card

Q: What version of Windows will this work with?

A: This service works with all versions of Windows, including 95,98, ME, 2000, and XP.  It is also designed to work with Macintosh laptops

Q: What if I do not have the equipment to connect to this service?

A: The hotel will provide the customer with a 6 foot CAT5/Ethernet cable for free.  No other equipment will be necessary.

Q: Will this service protect my laptop from viruses?

A: This service does not provide virus protection, it is up to the user to have adequate protection already installed on their laptop.

Q: Can other users see my files?

A: The answer is no.  There is a firewall set up between each room so no one from another room or the outside can see your files.

Q: Can I use my company's VPN?

A: Yes, this service is designed to work with most VPNs

Q: Do I need to change any settings on my laptop to use this service?

A: No, all the user has to do is plug in the CAT5 cable, turn on their laptop, and the service will automatically configure your laptop.  These changes are not permanent, so there is no need to worry about loosing your current configuration.
